Danny Hooper
An enduring Singer Songwriter, Danny Hooper has pursued a career in music for more than 20 years. Regular family sing-a-longs and the gift of his father’s guitar at 10 years of age first sparked Danny’s love of music. Falling in love at 18 inspired his first song and since then he has received numerous accolades, both nationally and internationally, for his song-writing talent. Over the years, Danny has led a successful career in music, performing regularly across the state. He frequents many interstate festivals and is always a favourite of festival goers due to his warm nature and sheer vocal and songwriting quality. His ability to involve his audience also makes him a stand-out performer. Danny is now achieving new levels of success with the release of his debut solo album The Legacy, which to date, boasts three Top 40 radio singles and two Top 40 video clips. His most recent, and rather controversial video clip, released in April 2010 is already becoming a favourite amongst Pay TV goers, currently sitting at #40 on the CMC chart.

Wendy Fantasia - Face & Body Artist
Face painting was something suggested to me by my husband in 1995 when a friend and I, with babies and babies on the way, were trying to figure out a job we could do with few strings and lot of freedom – and no boss or office. My friend and I bought some books, some good paints and brushes and drove miles out to some huge freezing Melbourne weekend market in a tin shed and painted for not very much, and really badly. We took so long on one boy he went to sleep. Practised on friends, our kids and husbands; did really cheap or no-charge parties and gradually improved.
Through local painters I met and worked with others and had some formal training sessions at last. Finally began to improve and the influx of information on the internet has also been extremely beneficial.
Returning to Adelaide in 2008 after 14 years away, and it’s full of face painters at every turn - they are everywhere here! There are festivals and events galore and painters at all the major happenings.
|
In the last couple of years I have begun belly painting and also body painting and love these genres too. Body painting particularly is such a different challenge – so much more planning and preparation (and some adrenalin and stress with competing) but the rewards are great. The model and the photographer, plus post-production work, also plays a much larger part in the final images with body painting.
I like that you can walk out the door with your kit and earn a reasonable return for good work done. It’s a very pure form of employment, and a real win/win relationship with who you do work for.
Currently my business comprises ‘Feature Faces’ – Face Painting Workshops; ‘The Imagineers’ Body Paint Artists and ‘Face Painting by Wendy Fantasia’. My slogan is ‘not just for kids’ parties’ and that just about sums it up!
